String Identification-It May be a long shot but...

I just bought a used bass from guitar center (Lakland 55-02) and the strings that are on them are incredible and i really really like them. Is there any way to find out what kind of strings they are? Like i said, i know its probably a long shot but i thought i would ask because these strings are incredible. I kind of dont want to change them because im 100% sure that they are a different guage than i use on my other basses and dont want to have to do a set up on it because this bass is set up perfectly. Strings that i have used are Elixer Ernieball and DR hi-beams and i know they are neither of those and im pretty sure they are not roundwounds, possibly flatwounds?? Im not sure being that i've never used any flatwounds but if these are flatwounds I am sold. They feel like no string i've ever played on. If anyone knows anything about identifying strings let me know. Thanks

It's not a long shot, but if you don't know a roundwound from a flatwound, we've got problems already.

pix In specific, a picture of the silk at the tuners, a picture of the ball ends, and a picture of the string at the nut would be helpful. You'll get all kinds of guesses.

Well like i said i have never played on a flatwound and have just started exploring different strings so i wouldnt have any idea what they feel or look like. Maybe you can enlighten me. I will try to get some pics up though. thanks

So my latest bass was a G&L and I really love it, since you can toggle the sound right on the bass. It has a very warm tone. But I've run into a problem. I want to play songs that are tuned way too low for my 4-string. When I tune done past D, the strings get clanky. A friend suggested thicker strings, but I don't think that would work because it is about tension more than thickness.
