string install

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,
I've had my GSR200 for about 2 weeks now and have been playing/ practicing with it a bit, trying to concentrate on the tone and getting my fingers to work again.
Looking over the bass I noticed, finally, how the strings are wrapped around the tuners. I dont like the way they seem bunched up.
Would it be practical to remove and reinstall these properly?
They are good strings, diaddario's, and they sound pretty good to me.
Would I create any unwanted issues by doing so?
Thank you in advance,
Jeff

It does look like theres too many winds on the E,A, & D strings and that the wrap goes over another wrap on the G string. You can try carefully lifting the strings off tuners and trim about 3/4 inch off the first three strings, leave G string length as is. Loosen the firsrt 3 some more and Partly unwind the EAD strings so you can insert end into tuner center hole and start wrapping it around post. Then carefully put them back on so that each wrap is snugged up against the previous one, but not over top of other wraps. Take your time.
