String issue HELP!

Everyone knows what it sounds like when you play lets say 2 A notes that are out of tune to each other. You get that kind of wavy sound right. What happen when you play just one string (i.e. open A) by itself, and you get the same wavy sound? It's driving me nuts. It so obvious. This is a brand new set of DR Lo-Rider Steels.

you may have some frett "buzz" thtas creating a harmonic somewhere.... you may want to check your action.

or it could be a faulty preamp thats cutting out at that frequency...

edit: it could also be that you put different gauge strings on it and the nut is too big/small. thats the worst D:

The action is good. I can replace it with the old A string, and no issues. They are the same gauges.
