String Length

This is probably something I should know but I'll ask anyway.

I used to have a lot of problems with buying strings that were too long for my Jazz bass. The E string would end up wrapping around the tuning peg. I am going to buy some new strings for my Carvin 5-string today and I want to make sure I don't have that same problem. Should any 34" scale strings work fine? I use Dean Markley strings.

Get any old 34" strings, pull them over the nut, and past the peg, then get a set of clippers and remove the end about 2 inches beyond the tuning peg. THis is all you need to wrap round. Good luck.
