String Lube for D'Addario Half Wounds

I really like the tone of half wound strings, but for some reason they are really sticky. I've never used any kind of string lubricant and was wonder ing if there were dangers/risks in using fast fret or similar products.

Don't really know much about string lube, so I can't answer that question, but if you like a half round string, but can't stand that sticky feel, check out Labella Quarter Rounds.

from my experience, D'Addario half-rounds are the stickiest feeling strings i've ever tried.... you may want to try Fast-Fret to see if that helps...

I use Status Hot Wire half wound strings and they were a bit grippy" for a week when new but once they were played in I've not had any problems.

Are they new?

If so, just play them for a while. The stickness goes away. It must be something in the manufacturing process for groundwounds. I've tried GHS Brite Flats & SIT Silencers & they were sticky in the beginning.

They are sticky at first, I recently put a set on my fretless cuz I hate flatwounds but wanted to not tear up the fingerboard too fast with roundwounds. I used String Ease and sprayed on a little bit. Keep playing on them and spray a bit of that stuff on and they will be much better. Any chance u get, just put on the TV and kick back with your bass and just play as much as possible.

I put a set of half rounds on one of my basses recently, and I had the same experience, but they lost that sticky feel after a couple of weeks. Maybe it was the FastFret, or maybe it would have happened anyway.

When I play outside in the Texas summer, my hands sweat and they get sticky again, so I FastFret them and dust the back of the neck with talcum like I would a pool cue.

I have Half rounds on my Pedulla and they feel sticky, especially in summer months.
I have been using finger-ease with no issues to the strings or neck for many years.
The stickiest time I have is outdoor gigs, round wounds and humidity.
Fingers feel like they are glued to the board.
Finger ease takes the stickness out.
