String opinion update

Earlier I posted that I wanted tyo go to all flatwounds. And a buddy of mine looked at me like I was insane. Well guess what, I'm not, he is and flats rule!

Also, after trying the 19 dollar Webstrings Detroit flatwounds, I have no more need to by DR's as these sound as good, feel as good and cost about 1/3 the cost!

The D'Addario Halfrounds give mt Geddy Jazz a tone that, well let's just say if I were to say how awesome here, there might be a few 4 letter words. In a G rated answer they are unbelievable!

I want to put these on my 5er, but will probably put the D'Addario chromes on that bass. I want the zingy tone of rounds but not the finger noise or harsh feel.

As to the Roto 77's on my P bass, they are still there, and I like their bright tone, but I am thinking they to will yield to Chromes if I like those.

I know,I know, about 10 of you are yelling TI at your computer screen. I will eventually get round to trying them.

Also, I am real fond of medium light guage strings, the big thick mediums or thicker do not catch my fancy...

Again this is all IMHO....

Well, sounds like you are off to a good start.....
Always keep a mind open to try other flats as well. I am quite fond of TIs and GHS Precision flats myself.

Still like rounds on some of my basses, though.

I'm a big fan of Labella Deep Talkin' flats and have them on most of my basses, but last night I installed a set of D'Addario Chrome flats (light gauge) on my new Epi EB-3. I'm liking it a lot!! I also have the chromes on an Applause (Ovation) acoustic-electric, and I like them much better than the rounds which came on it.

I've just ordered a new set of D'Addario round wounds for my Alembic. I'm going thick this time. They will be the EXL160SL set .50.70.85.105 plus 145 SL single for the B. I want thundering bottom, and more articulate strong mids. I like the warmer sound of nickel. I have some D/M Rocco Prestia strings on it now, and I didn't like the highs or the thud. These are going to be big, but they will fit in the bridge saddle. Almost put coated ones on but I heard they flake. With 37" from nut to ball, not many will fit. I want real deep tone.
