String options for 35" Scale

Sign in to disble this ad
What are my other options for strings to put on my 35" Scale Schecter Studio 5? Now that I've gutted it and it has Kent Armstrong pickups and OBP-3 it's a different beast and deserves the right strings for it.

Thusfar I've had on it:

Elixir Super Longs (Just kind of ehhh sounding)

S.I.T. Power Steel's (Love the tension of these. Not lovin' the snappiness and extra finger noise.)

I'm wanting Nickle strings, and something with decent Tension to them. Not a big fan of floppy strings.

What I'm not sure is which of these will give me enough length. My Ball of string at bridge to Nut length is right at 37". Ball of string to longest Tuner is about 42 1/4".

DR Sunbeams. Or Nickel Lo-Riders, if they're not stiff enough for you. But on a 35" scale bass, Sunbeams should be fine.

I just got a set for my 35" 6er, after going through what you're going through (35" scale bass & a love of nickle). There were some other strings I wanted to try but they wouldn't fit, and I glad they didn't!

Found a good deal on a set of SIT Power Wound Nickle's... I'll try them and if not happy I'll try Sunbeams.

I'll check in with my thoughts on the SIT Power Wounds once they're on and have a few hours on them and how they compare to the Power Steels that are currently on the bass for a couple weeks now.

I still like Elixirs
DR Low Riders and Hi Beams both work well for me.

+1

Sadowsky's are the only strings for me now. I used to play DR's but Sadowsky stole my soul the first time I played them. I would've never tried them if JustStrings.com were temporarily out of my HighBeams for a while. I tried Sadowsky strings and was blown away by the tightness of the B string and the overall tone. Great strings!!!
