String Question for Roscoe fretless owners

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got my Roscoe LG-3005 fretless and now I'm looking for the right strings to outfit it.

What brand and gauge of string are you using on your Roscoe fretless?

Some of the things I'm sure I'll be playing on it are like

Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit"
"Ain't Misbehavin' "
"Birdland"
Stevie Wonder's "Somethin' 'Bout Your Love"

I'm sure I'll find other stuff to play, especially at church, but these are a few of the songs where I have a definite sound in my head. I'd like to get some strings on it that won't chew up the ebony board before I get too deep into working out these songs.

Thanks!!

Peace,

James

Jerry,

Thanks for the link. After reading the thread, I've made 3 firm decisions.....

1) I will be trying a set of DR Black Beauties
2) I will start frequenting the Roscoe Forum
3) From now on I will wear gloves when I eat barbecue

FWIW, the bass is Spanish Cedar body topped with Tobacco Burst Quilted Maple, Ebony finger board, and 18V Bart pre with Bart pickups.

Peace,

James
