String Recommendation...

Sign in to disble this ad
I may be buying a 5 String Fretless Michael Kelly Acoustic Bass Guitar off a guy I know, but I’m looking for some info before I make the decision.

I am looking for Black Tapewound Strings that are good, or at least Flatwound Strings, but I’m not sure what brands to look at.

Also, I don’t particularly care for the low B so I plan to string it with a High C instead if I get it. My question is does anyone know where I can get Black Tapewound Strings for a 5 String strung that way, or even a 6 string black tapewound set, or a 4 string set and buy the C separately. I would prefer to not buy the 6 string set unless necessary, but I know many places will not sell strings separately.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

juststrings.com sells lots of brands' single strings. A set of tapewound strings in that tuning will be pretty rare. I'm thinking maybe just La Bella, GHS or Rotosound has 6 string tapewounds.

Try Carvin.com, as well. 6 string flats made by GHS. Good strings, good price.
