Just got my new StingRay 5 today...
Any recommendations as to what to string with.. On my sterling I use DR High Beams.....I love them.. Im fairly new to the 5 string world. Are there any new things to consider when looking for strings??
Opinions/recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

The High Beams are great strings as well and the B is just as focused as the rest of the strings in that set. Lately, I've been trying the Black Beauties and so far they kill! I am a faithful DR user and in my opinion you can't go wrong with trying all of their sets to suit your own flavor. |

Also, post some pictures!

| | | | I dont like DR's, Elixers, or Daddario. Their sound just doesnt contribute to voice wanted. I use GHS & Rotosound alternately. Ernie Ball if its a bass or guitar that could use a little more crunch emphasis.

| | | | Congratulations on a superb instrument.
On mine, my favorite strings -- by far -- are GHS Boomers (45-65-85-105-130). |

I really like the bright sound of new strings and that's why I loved the DR's...they stayed that way for awhile. However, I've been extremely happy with the D'Addario's on my Modulus FB5 and that's what I'm going to stick with. I used to use the EB strings but they seemed to lose their brightness and go dead way to quick for me. |

I'm pretty much a DR guy on fretted 5's... I like the Lo-Riders because I prefer a stiffer string, but I use the nickel for a more old-school tone, which might be contrary to what you want out of your 'Ray.
Beautiful bass, btw. And don't let anyone tell you that's a one-trick pony! I haven't found a single style of music that I can't play on a Stingray!
