Question String set with best balanced tension

Sign in to disble this ad
I actually have a Fender 40-100 string set and theres an annoying tension unbalance (G and D harder).
I have to pluck harder when a i go there and theres a a difference in the attack (E more boomy, G and D tight).
Also, is difficult to get a good string output balance.

Im searching for a more balanced string set with the same response string by string...

Any options?

thanx

That sounds familiar You've just discovered the design flaw of almost all string sets.

Circle K Strings are the only company selling tension balanced sets (their site is offline for upkeep this weekend). Or you could order single strings and build your own balanced set.

So your gauges are 40 60 80 100?

Thinking further, if you find your E too boomy, do you want it tighter for a tighter, brighter sound? perhaps a .105? Also, if you find G and D too tight then perhaps lower the gauge? .055 and .035?

Perhaps then .035 .055 .080 .105? This is more balanced, and actually has a slight reduction in tension toward the high strings, which IMO is a good thing.

Try the Rotosound swing 66 in 40. 60, 80, 100 gauge set. When I used them I found them nicely balance sound and feel wise.
