String suggestions for Epiphone Thunderbird

It is time for me to replace the strings on my Epiphone Thgunderbird. I use it with my band and we mostly play punk rock (more like Social Distortion/Rancid kind of stuff) and i would like my sound not to get "lost" with all the distorted guitars! I know that my bass is not a precision, but i like it and i am not changing it! Thinking about some Elixirs but i am open to any suggestions.

Do you know what was on there before?

It's not unthinkable that he strapped on his Precision at one point, stared at himself in the mirror, and wondered whether or not he looked cool.

I use DR Black Beauties on all of my T-birds.

Most of the time i use a pick and a good friend of mine told me not to go with coated strings and go with more bright sounding strings in order to balance the growl and warm sound of my Thunderbird. He suggested that i should try DADDARIO EPS 170 045-100 or D'ADDARIO EPS 220 040-095 as a cheap solution.

I don't know why your friend told you not to use coated strings, they can be a great option if they give you the sound you want. D'addario's are cheap and you will go through them more than twice as fast as quality strings like DR's. I find Fatbeams to be the best balance of mid and bottom without too much high end zing.

Last night I put Black Beauties on my bird. The E string was tough working into the tuner. So far I like em, they brought my action way down n now I get some fret buzz but once I'm plugged in n cranked up you can't hear the buzz. Plus I like extra low action so it worked out well. They play nice,, little twangy but all around seems to be a good string so far.

Need to be heard? Punk? Thunderbird?

This just screams Rotosound RS66 strings. Thunderbirds are made for these strings.
