| | | | String suggestions to replace Fender 8250M's??

Hi all...
I know string choice is a matter of tastes, but I'm looking for information to start me off.....
I've been using Fenders 8250M's on my 2004 Fender American Deluxe Jazz ever since I bought it, and now that Fender decided to replace out those great strings with the "new" questionable ones, I'm looking for advice on what to put on next....
I'm in Canada, so Long and McQuade is pretty much my only string supplier unless i do mail order, but that makes them more pricey....
Any suggestions? I loved the growl, and lifespan of the original fender 8250M's... Any help would be appreciated..

I'm now using Chromes 40-100 since I like them and have tried lots of different rounds with no success. I figured I would just go with a string I like that works well on a P-bass and in a mix rather than start trying other rounds again. Chromes have a little more tension and I was used to the slightly tighter tension of the 8250's which were 45-110 with taperwound E.

Are you interested in or willing to switch to rounds or flats?

I just put a new set on one of my basses, and noticed immediately that they aren't the same. I'm going to break them in for a little while, then do another A/B with a Jazz that has the old ones on it, but I have a feeling they still won't be anywhere near as good as the old set. Quote:

I had to adjust the bridge saddles for each string since the string gauge is different. Strung it string through yes they are long enough.... They sounded great, but i noticed just tonight that they've lost quite a bit of zing, or brightness that I like... The Fender 8250's would last quite a bit longer.....
Not sure what else to try, as my choice are limited from Long and Mquade here in Eastern Canada.... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
