String suggestions? Two very different basses...

I'm getting ready to restring both of my basses. I have a '74 Gibson Ripper and a '94 Gibson Les Paul (obviously an active bass). Am being open minded about what strings to put on them. I play a variety of music in bands although modern country is creeping in and mainly classic rock. I've always used roundwounds in the 35+ years I've been playing, but after reading up on strings I'm open to considering flat or half wounds. Of course I don't have to use the same strings on both guitars. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions or good experiences with either of these basses and string selection?

I've had good experiences with Rotosound Jazz Bass on my '68 EB-3 and '06 T-Bird. Not the same basses as yours, but Gibsons do seem to like flatwound strings, especially the EB-3.
