String Tension - Lo-Riders or D'Addario

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm trying to find a set of strings that have the right combination of tone and tension for my set up. I've got an ESP/LTD TA-600 that I've tuned to C# F# B E and have decided that nickel wounds are my best bet to keep the EMG pickups from getting too bright. For tension purposes, I think hex core strings are my best route, which leaves me pretty much with either the DR Lo-Rider nickels or regular D'Addario nickels.
I've already blown through 4 sets of strings in 2 months on this little adventure, so I thought before I throw more money down the toilet I'd ask around to see if anyone had any experience with this or advice. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

(P.S. I've already tried an Ernie Ball .110 set and just didn't like the way the low string sounded. It was like the extra mass of the string killed off some of it's character compared to the rest of the set. If anyone knows of an awesome nickel .110 set that doesn't loose all of it's mids I'd like to hear about that too.)
