string tension stoopidity
Well, this is embarrassing. I didn't realize that one of my 35" scale basses was longer than normal until recently. Most of my basses are 34" scale and I quickly learned that my newest bass which is 35" needed extra-long strings to feel right. That's when I started noticing that there might be a reason that it's hard to bend or vibrato on my BTB. OOOPS! :o
According to this thread http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f16/ca...basses-477087/, DR strings like Black Beauties should work fine on a 35" scale bass, but I have them on right now and I find the tension too high for comfort.
Does anyone have recommendations for similar strings that come in extra-long scale?
You can get lighter gauge DRs.
+1 for lighter gauge Black Beauties. They are already some of the lowest tension strings out there as it is.
