String won't seat

I just got a new set of d'addario nickles but the base of the string right by the ball won't seat into the warwick bridge because its too thick. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? Oh yeah this is only on the B string.

Flatten (compress) windings slightly with lineman or duckbill pliers. Even the base of a larger needle nose will do in a [ahem] pinch.
