Stringing my 6.

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had my 6 for about a year now, and I have always kept it tuned to CGDAEB. Now I'm in a new band that requires me to tune to drop C. I was wondering if anyone new where I could get custom gauge strings and what gauge would be best. This is only a problem because I don't want to tune all my strings up. On my 5 I used 6 string strings and used the CGDAE and left the B.

Why do you need to consider "Drop C Tuning" when your bass has such a wide range already?

Because the band plays in drop C and i want to be able to play in the full range of my bass. I don't want to be tuned standard because the low B would be useless and the band is in drop not standard. The tuning I want to use is Eb-Bb-F-C-G-C.

Do you want to use the high 24th fret on the Eb as well?

Seems like a ridiculous idea.

If you need the C for open string riffs, most people would advice you to tune to BCADGC. String notation is usually from lowest/thickest to highest/thinnest.

I sell drop C 6 string sets;

.130 .088 .064 .046 .033 .025

FWIW - the why's don't matter. He wants to do this, he can do this, so he should do this.

Doesn't anyone understand?
I know I can just use a different tuning, but this is the tuning I want and I am only asking for help on how. Not on an easy way to do it.

Go here - then look for the set that looks like this; .130 .088 .064 .046 .033 .025

They'll do what you want - buy 'em
