| It all depends on the rest of your set up. It should improve the sustain, but if you have a poor amp, or were using old strings (I know you aren't, but it's just an example) then you wouldn't notice the difference.
Also having a bolt on may well be the reason... If it aint broke there's no need to fix it, your bass sounds fine, so don't change it, but you could look into why it isn't soiunding so great (I reckon on the amp myself.)
