Question stringing thru body - which strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
i recently drilled my jazz bass for thru body but i noticed the fender 7250s aren't long enough to go thru the body. will ghs bass boomers be ok? i don't really want to switch to the taperwound fenders because i want to use the same strings on all my basses. what's the buzz words i need to make sure that they are long enough? is long scale enough or extra long scale????

I have an American Jazz that came thru body and long scale strings work fine with it.

DR's are made super long for sure. Dunlops should be fine as well.

I just installed a wonder-full sounding set of Ken Smith stings to my Ripper, a through-body bass that requires a full 37.75 inches of winding length on all strings. 1/2 inch to spare.
