Strings for 32" scale

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a Waterstone TP-4 bass and it has a 32" scale. I use SIT Powerwounds in .045-.100 on all of my long scales. I'm not sure if I will be able to use them or have to go to the short scale set which is only available in .040-.95. I really don't want to go with that light of a gauge if I don't have to. I know there are medium scale strings available from a couple of companies but I really like the SIT's. Does anyone know if a long scale set of strings can be used on a 32" scale? Or am I going to have to go with the short scales?

You will need medium scale 32" strings. there are plenty available. Short scale will not clear the nut & long scale you will be trying to wrap a E string around the post.

D'Addario and GHS offer medium gauge strings in almost every type they sell. Check out these sights:

Thanks guys. I guess I will have to find another brand that sells the 32" scale strings then since SIT doesn't offer them. I have had trouble with GHS's breaking and I am not a fan of the feel of the D'Addario rounds. Maybe I'll give a set of Ground Rounds a try.
