Strings for 33'' Scale 5-String

Sign in to disble this ad
In a few weeks I'll recive my new Bass, it will be a 5-String with a 33'' inch scale and strung E-C. At the moment I use DR Strings on all my basses (Sunbeams 40-100 on my Jazz and Stingray, Hi Beams 45-125 on my 5-String). I'd like to know which strings other players use on their 33'' Basses, which brand (tension) and which gauge eespecially. At the moment I think I'll use DR Sunbeams 40-100 with a 30 C-String. The Bass will have a Swampash body. Thanks!

Sorry, but I did not ask for a place to buy cheap strings. My intend was to ask players who play a bass strung E-C to tell me about their experiences and why they chose a certain setup...

I think he posted the link to Circle K because the have sets with "even" tension on all strings.

I don't think I could even figure out which strings to get for my bass from the circle k site....too many choices....seems excessive.

I have a 33" scale bass. I personally use Fodera nickel strings on my bass, the (6 string set) 28-125 set. I love them...been using them for years. My strings are balanced from top to bottom. I haven't found strings I like better.

I've never used balanced strings. So it's the same effect as having fanned frets like an Dingwall bass? The Foderas sound nice, how is their tension, I like really soft, low tension strings?

Unfortunately it's been so long since I've used anything else that I wouldn't be able to compare the tension to anything.
