Strings for a 35" scale 5 string (Peavey Cirrus)

This will be the first time I'll ever buy bass strings (I'm primarily a guitarist). On my guitar I use DR hi-beams with a somewhat heavier guage, so I wouldn't be averse to a heavier guage for the bass strings as my fingers are somewhat used to it. I tune to D standard on guitar, so the bass will be tuned ADGCF. Being that it's a longer scale bass, do I need a heavier guage to tune down a step? What would be a good choice to complement the upper mids of my guitar? As you can see, I'm a total beginner in respect to basses. (I bought the Cirrus used, and the strings it came with have worked out okay so far, but to be honest I don't even know what guage they are, much less what brand).

Long scale basses make for tighter strings.
A regular jauge such as 120-40 or 125-45 will be fine.
All brands don't accomodate 35" though.
Ernie Ball usually are fine, never had problems with DR.
I had several issues with D'Addario, string too short.

Don't get D'Addarios unless it's Super Long Scale. Never had problems with DRs, Ken Smiths, etc.

It's just a money saving measure and I think it's very inconsiderate of D'Addario to do that!

I quite like the Cirrus strings on my Cirrus, they seem to suit the bass quite nicely. That being said I haven't had the bass long enough to experiment with other strings but I'm pleased with the sound I get.

I am currently using DR Lo Riders with a .130 B string. I like them ok, but I'm thinking of going back to steel roundcores. The Lo Riders sound good, and feel great, but the B string sounds a bit hollow. I think it might be the hex core, but I won't know without some trial and error.

I would definately stay away from taper-core strings though. The set I had sounded like crap, and the action had to be set high to use them. If the Cirrus were a string through, it might help, but they don't work with well with the normal bridge stringing.

I use Cirrus strings on my Cirrus 5. I think they sound awesome on that bass. I would also like to try the Ken Smith Burners and see how they would work with the Cirrus. I had the DR Lo-Riders on my Ibby 5 and they sounded good on that bass - not sure about the hollow sounding B but it seems a couple of people have complained about that on the Cirrus. I may have to bite the bullet and try them for myself. Not to hijack the thread but anyone try Dingwall VooDoo's on a Cirrus?
