Strings for '74 Mustang

Hi guys, I have just bought a 74 Mustang bass and I want to know what sort of strings to grab for it. I play with a distortion pedal and like a really fuzzy, bottom end heavy dull/ flat sound- in other words, can't stand anything bright & twangy. Can anyone recommend some good strings? Flatwound?
