Strings I just purchased a 66' Fender P-Bass. It came with Flat wound strings. Though I am fan of roundwound stainless steel strings, I am torn about putting them on this bass. I do have a 83 P maple fretboard that sounds great for that funk tone through my 60s Ampeg B-15 fliptop. Jamerson or not, that is the question. I would love to hear opinions. |
It's a matter of taste. It's your bass, so do what suits your taste. I'd play a '66 P with flats, but that's my taste. When in doubt, play the flats for a while and dump them, if you don't like them. |
Thank you. I am leaning that way. |
Leave flats on the 66. Play rounds on the 83. Give yourself tonal options. |
