Strings for Affinity Squire P-bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright so I tried to re-string my squire p-bass for the first time. I've re-strung guitars before and have had no problem, but ran into some problems with the bass. I bought Rotosound RS66LD Long Scale Swing 66 Bass Strings and was confused because the E string was way to long and the rest of the strings didn't fit well either. I was wondering if the strings are meant for a different type of bass or if it was my fault. If anyone has any other good strings that they know will work out please let me know. Thanks!!!

Strings need to be clipped to length. On your bass, clip each string five inches past the peg it's going to go on, except for the A string - clip that one 9 inches. Make sure each winding goes under the last one you put on, so the strings come off the bottom part of the peg, and you're good to go.

I tried to do that. the fat part of the E string was way to long compared to the original strings that were on it, I'm starting to think that the strings i got for it were for a string through bridge. i think the best thing for me to do is take it to a professional and watch them do it. but thanks for the info. is there any string preference for a beginner? I am kind of partial to skinnier strings and want to keep it under $30.
