Strings & Alcohol

I use the old "alcohol" trick for my strings.
One set on my bass , one set dipping in alcohol , and I alternate those.
I'm a sweatin' machine !

I experimented with D'Addario XL wich are reacting favoratly to that pattern. I tried some Super steps from LaBella, not with the same happy result , they don't like alcohol !

Wich brand/type of strings , except XL's , are good at this ?
Love XL on my fretted but not on my fretless , very happy with the Supersteps but it would cost me a fortune to keep the tone.

For me? I would get whatever string you think sounds best, period. Reaction to alcohol cleaning aside.
That being said, I find Nickles sound closer to 'new' then stainless after a dip in the cleansing elixir. That may be what your experiencing.

I've found that Carvin nickels respond well to the alcohol treatment, which is odd as I believe they are made by Labella.

They must be the equivalent of "deep talkin' bass " from LaBella
