Strings for American Deluxe Jazz V

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently picked up a 2007 American Deluxe Jazz V while waiting for my Valenti to be completed, and it turns out that this is an incredible bass for the money. I absolutely love the damn thing!

I normally use Daddario Pro Steels, .45 to .135 on my fives, but on this bass, the B at that gague is difficult to intonate. I am not a fan of the Fender strings that the bass came with. For those of you with ADJV's which strings have worked best in your experience? For reference, I play in an 8 piece rock/soul/funk band, so I look for articulation rather than pure "grind". Thanks for your help!

I have the Custom Classic J5 and use DR Nickel Lowriders (45-130) - the best strings I've ever played! Try 'em and you won't be dissapointed.

Dr Lo-Riders if you like high tension, other wise Hi-Beams or MM. Any of those will do you good

Thanks! You guys have validated my thoughts on the DR Low Riders. I like the feel of Stainless steel over nickel, but I should probably give both options a shot. Does anyone here know what Adrian Garcia used on his J5's?

I'm going to recommend Sadowsky strings. I've found they work really wonderfully with all Fender-type 5 string basses. Please give them a try... They are great!

I use EBMM Regular Slinky strings on my American Jazz V Deluxe and Also my American Jazz V Plus.

I gig these basses all the time and they sound great.
