Strings for a Brice 6

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a Brice 6 string a couple of months ago and this was my first 6 as well as my first 35 inch scale bass. I really have no idea as to what kind of strings to get for it and I really want to change the strings on it. It strings through the body so I don't know if regular 35" scale strings will work. Please excuse me if this is a dumb question but I have looked online for strings and I am really confused on what to get. The only ones that I have found that I know will work are Peavey Cirrus strings.

If you have an HXB-406, you can top load the strings as well as going through the body; this opens you up to more choices. Even the long-scale strings may be too short strung through the body, as was the case when I put a set of DR Sunbeams on mine.

If you're not dedicated to the through-body stringing, then any set with a taper around 37" should work (e.g. DR, Ken Smith, D'addario super long, Circle K, etc.).

If you're using tapered strings, they probably wont fit through the body correctly (the idea is that the taper should be on the saddle).

Grab a Circle K Balanced 140 set, and top-load it on the Brice. You will be super happy you did so.
