I use DR Sunbeams on my Carvin LB70 and I think they match the bass really well. It really depends on the sound and feel you are going for. The Sunbeams are fairly smooth for roundwounds and have a scooped mid sound with some growl.

The Sunbeams have a fair amount (but they can still be warm), but I have heard that the DR Nickel Lo-Riders have a lot as well as some of the Warwick string lines (black and yellow labels I think). For the most growl you probably want nickel plated strings. There may be some others out there as well.

DR "Marcus" (Fat Beams). Mids in spades.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with DR's....period.

The fat beams were not really "growly" at all for me when I tried them (see my DR Strings post on this page). They a good strings, but they were a little too clean sounding for my tastes.

Judging by your name Metal123, I think DR Hi-Beams might be for you. Very bright, very flexible, and super growly on my Jazz Bass.

I used both D'Addario XLs and Vinci RKs ( www.wwandbw.com ) on my fretted and fretless Carvin 6's (H50N pu's) for quite a while before I switched to Elixirs. Both are nickel and both were quite satisfyingly growly.

I suggest Hi-Beams because of the flexibility of the tones that are available.
