Strings with a deep sound that can cut.

I'm looking into putting some new strings on my MIM Fender Jazz. The ones on it now are way to bright for my liking(they arent the original fender strings they are some type of GHS string[previous owner put em on]).

I mainly play heavy hard grunge rock in my band but by myself i like playing reggae/ska. So im looking for a string that can give me a nice fat deep tone but that can cut through the mix. I've heard from a lot of people that Rottosound Swing bass '66 are good but i wanna see what opinions yall have so i dont go dishing out $20+ on strings that i wont even like

please list type of string and guage

Thanks in advance

A nice set of flats should do you good. I'd suggest either Labella or Fender, both on a jazz cut through the mix rather well with a healthy portion of low end thump to boot. I havent tried GHS flats yet, but I gather they are similar to the Labellas and cost under $20 from musiciansfriend.com.

TI Superalloys are pretty deep for round wounds.

I'd start w/ the 760FS, Deep talkin' standard gauge set 105-45 and go from there. The Jameson's are powerlines.
