strings for ebonol fretless?

Sign in to disble this ad
hi everyone!
i would like to ask if anyone here has had an experience with ebonol fretboards and flatwound strings.

i recenty bought a used cort curbow 5 FL with roundwound strings. now i'm planning to switch to flats, but will have to have them ordered/shipped or bought abroad since there are no flat 5-string sets here in third-world Manila. so, i really just can't experiment with it.

what do you suggest would be the best, considering tone, price and durability?

thanks a lot!

I'm playing D'Addario Chromes - these are the only flats that doesn't sound dead in treble frequencies. Smooth feel, well balanced. I warmly recommend it.

thanks man! somebody on a local forum mentioned thomastiks, but they're quite pricey for me. and i don't know if i would get a good sound from it on ebonol, coz he's using a custom made bass with an ebony board, i think.

i think i'll check out the d'addarios, i use the xls on my fretted.

im also hoping to try the rotosound 775s, which are not available here, but are much more inexpensive. they only have the four-string set in stores here, but am hoping they can help me get a set. any feedbck on the rotos?

thanks again!
