Strings for Ergodyne

Sign in to disble this ad
My friends bought me a used Ibanez Ergodyne bass(one with the triple coil p/u) for my last birthday and the tension on the strings is just way too tight. My friends bought it for me because I had wanted something with an aggressive tone for slap. Its been professionally set-up already, so I know I need to go to a set of lower gauge strings. My question is: How light should I go? I think Hi-beams go down to 30, but what I have on right now is standard medium 50-105. Do I need to go all the way down to 30 or will the strings be too floppy? Maybe just go down to 40? Thanks.
