Strings for full 'G'

Sign in to disble this ad
I need a fuller sounding g string in my P-bass with Fralins. I have done every known adjustment to the pickups. I think it has a little to do with how the pickup is voiced. But I would like to explore the string thing. I'm using Daddario 45-105. I had an old set of GHS boomers lying around and changed the g string. It did help a bit, but I need more if possible. Any good brand of string for this scenario? Should I change string sizes?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have used medium lites with gauges 45-100 to balance the set and not have the E and A strings really overshadow the D and G strings . If you prefer a 105 E, I would suggest a medium to heavy set with gauges 50-105 for a bigger G and D sound. If you liked the difference with the Boomers, you may want to go with a new set of them. There are many good brands of strings out there, so just buy what you know sounds good on your bass and try the new gauges out.
