Strings for GDAE on 30" bass

I'd like to find strings for a 30" bass that I could tune to GDAE (G on the bottom, i.e. fifths tuning). It is for a de-fretted Fender Mustang Bass that is otherwise gathering dust, and I'd like to tune it in fifths so I can play cello music on it.

Any suggestions on appropriate string types and gages?

Above E. I figure that raising the pitch a bit might help overcome the tubby sound of this particular short scale bass.
