Strings for a Gibson SG Short Scale Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a brand new SG Supreme Bass that I love, but I do not love the strings. 2 or 3 of the ones that were on it when I got it were totally dead, void of tone so I went to the local guitar center and all they had were the standard Fender strings. I think the D string is dead too . So I was wondering what you people suggest. The tone that I like is somewhat nasely, sort of like kim deal's bass. I don't like a slappy sound.

No matter the strings, when I think of an SG bass, nasally is not a word that comes to mind, at all. Mudbucker + no bridge pickup = Deep thump. Which iI why I have chromes or sunbeams on my original 70's SG.

My SG bass has a minibucker at the bridge and a humbucker at the neck. It's pretty nasely if I crank the tone knob and I like that sound, which is what this thread is for. Basically what I said in my post was that I was looking for a nasely sound. My bass doesn't have a mudbucker, by the way. We basically have totally different instruments.

Why is everyone here such an elitist prick? I feel like I'm walking into a guitar center full of metal heads doing covers of black sabbath soungs. I just asked a simple question, jeez.

Chill out , you asked for an opinion and somebody gave you one , you are the one being elitist.

BTW you did not explain that it does not have a mudbucker ,
this is an SG Supreme bass and the neck pickup looks like a mudbucker to me
Anyway imo coolrunner989 is right , when i think of SG i think of thump
