Strings for a Godin A4

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everybody, I have a Godin A4 and was originally using tapewound strings to get an upright-ish tone for my bass, but I lose alot of volume with them and have also run into another problem. Around the 12th fret i lose alot of volume the more and more i go up the neck. I was reading how Nickle strings tend to be louder and I wonder if this would help or if its just an issue Godin's have.

I played an A4 in a local music store that was strung up with a set of light-gauge Chromes. Played real nice, in all areas of the neck.

Might be a setup issue. Good tips for testing this in the Hardware Setup Repair forum.

I used Thomastik Jazz Flats on my A4 for years, with great results. Very low tension, and quite a bit of flexibility with the tone. Good luck.
