Question Strings with gold wrappings

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a new bass and the strings that came on it are great! But I don't know what they are.

They're rounds with a tight wind, and medium to light tension.
They have this nice deep mellow tone.

The wrappings on both ends is a nice bright gold color.

Any ideas?

Fender pure nickel rounds have a gold wrap, and are known for a warm, old school tone. The Bass Player string review a few months ago showed pics of the silks for all the strings they reviewed...might be another info source.

What kind of bass? I just got some Dean Markley SR2000 strings, and they have gold ends.

It's a Bossa OB-4, but it was used so who knows what was on it when I got it.

The fender strings are a darker gold than the SR2000. I have both on basses right now(fender's on a P-Bass, and SR2000's on a Smith). Also, sr2000's will be very obvious because they have a tapercore near the bridge. They also sound very different.
