Strings for high ends?

First I'd try the strings that the bass comes with.
If they don't do it for you, try black beauties or something else.
I personally have landed with www.newtonestrings.com

I'm a DR fanboy, but I'm going to try Circle K's balanced set when it's time to change just to see what all the fuss is about

I used to be a dr fanboy til I setup quite a few guitars with there tite fit 10-46 strings and founf that I could not bproperly intinate them properly on any guitar. Then I discovered sit strings and I like them much better for both bass and guitar. Sit has stainless sets to that seem to be brighter and last longer not to mention there half the cost of dr high beams

Initially use the string brand etc youve been useing as your fave. They should work well on any bass you like. If you find your wanting a little tone tweak of some kind then figure out what that tone tweak should be. If you cant get it via adjusting the pups and little onboard eq adjustments. Then try strings that should give the desired little tone tweak that your fave strings are lacking for that bass. Personally I like Rotosound swing66 and Dr neons as fave strings.

Your new custom Sandberg arrives with strings the builder thinks really suit the instrument. Your plan for getting to know the instrument is to change the strings!?!?!?!

Reality check. Gather 20 tunes to play so you get to know your new bass. The strings are going to last 6 months or more. Where you live, that means a couple of set ups from now when the weather is cold & bone dry.

Don't pass up the experience of being the only person to play this BG after it left the factory. Do take it out where others can hear you play what is likely to be a Bass that brings a smile to your face every time you lift it to play. 8-)

Not only that, but you will have a better starting point for learning the ins and outs of the new bass. I normally keep the "factory strings" on the bass at the beginning (I'd hate to change out a perfectly good set), unless they're really not doing it for me. After that, the old stand-bys go on so I can really get a good feel for what the bass can and can't do.
