Strings for an Ibanez SR305DX

Sign in to disble this ad
My first bass was an Ibanez GSR200. Played it at a local Sam Ash and thought it sounded good, still like it. Good slap sound and picking. Got an almost new SR305DX since I wanted to try a 5 string, like Ibanez, and didn't want to spend a lot of money.

The strings that come on this instrument are very bright, almost seem too bright. Slapping gives kind of a "clacky" sound. Turning down the treble definitely helps. So I was thinking about changing strings, friend is suggesting DR's but I don't know which to get really! thanks.

I have an SR 400 that I string with D'Addario XL170 Nickels.
I like them because I could make them bright when I want to and still achieve an old school sound when I want to. This is the only bass I have these on and it seems to be a good match.
