Is it the strings or just bad playing?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

Iv i bought an Musicman stingray about two weeks ago and theyve come with a set of slinkys on them. When ever i do hammer ons and such i always seem to get a really tiney metalic buzz. Is this the strings or just bad technique? And if for instance i was playing on a massive rig can you hear things like that? Probably quite a stupid question but i know no one that plays bass. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a little bit of both. I never liked slinkies, I always thought they sounded tinny, and the high mids of the Stingray just accent that trebly sound.

I don't know about your other basses, But I do know the Stingray has a very distinctive sound. As far as strings, yes you should switch to what you are used to playing, and see how that works for you.
