Strings for Lakland DJ 5

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I just got a Lakland DJ 5 w. maple neck and Aero PUs.

I put Lakland Stainless Steels 45-128 on the bass.

What strings would give me a more agressive sound on this bass?
DR Hi Beams? Sadowsky SS?

The Lakland steels sound great until they die which is really quick for me. My hands sweat a lot. I just put a set of Elixir's on and they sound great to me. Just roll off the front pick up a tad and it growls.

I would think any of the Sadowsky strings would sound great also. I understand they will have the Blue labels available in XL soon to fit 35" scale. I like them, but again, they die too quickly for me.

Good luck...

Hey brother...I have a DJ 5 and I use D'Addario Prosteels on it.They really make that bass growl and come alive(especially for pick playing!) If you happen to try these, make sure you get the SUPER LONG SCALE strings to fit the 35" scale.Otherwise, they'll come up short!

Peace,

jackie

I just put a set of Pro steels on my Roscoe SKB and it totally transormed the aggressiveness, tone and attack of the bass. I wish I had tried them sooner. I was using Dean Markely SR 2000 Will Lee's which were good but the Pro Steels are much better. I also just ordered a set of MM Fat Beams for my new Sadowsky and the Roscoe to see what they are like. I would like to use the same string for both basses eventually.

DR. Hi Beams
Sadowsky SS
Marcus Miller Fat Beams
D'Addario Pro Steels
