Strings that match with a Stingray

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a set of strings that match well with a stingray. Suggestions? I'm looking for a somewhat modern sound with zingy but not overly zingy highs as well as full and somewhat growly lows. A good reference point is the bass player from Hawthorne Heights. What have you found to be a good match?

Personally, DR High Beams seem to have a lot of high end and growl, but aren't as zingy as the DR Lo-Riders. They are my string of choice to get the same tone you are looking for, on my Jazz.

Blue Steels. They tend to enhance the Stingray sound. Warm bottom, growly mids and sweet highs. DR's are good too, but I found the Hi-Beams too thin sounding and the Lo-Riders a little polite.

I'm down wiith the DR Fatbeams. Nice thick lows, great mids without harsh highs.

I found Hi Beams to be a little thin sounding with my Ray.
