strings for my 64 precision

I love the sound of the rotosounds on my 64 precision. My question is should I use the nickel or the stainless. I like a heavier string, but dont want to do too much damage to the fretboard: Any suggestions? .

why do you say chromes? Who makes them? Is the E string at least .109 thick?

For that thickness, you need LaBella Deep talkin' flats-if you want flats, that is

I use halfwounds on my fretless rick but i love the sound of the rotosounds on my Precision. I just don't like the damage they cause to the fretboard.

The nickels would be easier on your frets than the stainless steel.

I keep hearing about Chromes

How thick are Chromes? I like at least a .107 E string. No wimpy lite or med-lite strings. I love the power of the heavier strings along with their sustainability.

I believe a 64 Precision is crying for Labella 760FM's.

Thomastik Powerbass strings have a .107 E string, although they are a bit pricey.

If I'm not mistaken, Ernie Ball has a slinky set with a .110 E string, as does the Rotosound Billy Sheehan set.

Rotosound swing 66 steels are great strings. Unless your overly heavy handed with fretting hand and/or grinding the strings into fretboard their should be no significant fretbaord wear for long long time. Same for the frets unless theyre substandard soft frets. Ive used rotosound swing66 steels since the early 1970's.

And now for something completely different: the new Fender Flats 9050CL set: the ease of flats with a subdued version of Roto growl.

I also like the tone from the rotosound swingbass66. I find the stainless a bit hard on the frets, so i bought the nickel swingbass 66 to use on my Geddy insteed of the EB slinky's.

Is it written in the bible that "one will only use flats on P"??
