I have a (35") fretless Brice Z6, and until this point, had it strung with Labella flats. My d-string has broken, however, and I'm in the market for new strings. I liked the Labellas, but I'd like to try something different.
As far as flats go, I've looked at the Carvin FW60 (although I'm not sure they'll fit my bass) and Thomastik nickel flats(expensive!).
As for rounds, I've seen people reccomending DR sunbeams for fretless, although I'm not sure how my rosewood fingerboard will handle it.
I also looked into tapewound strings and half-rounds (Labella and D'Addario, respectively).
I play fingerstyle 99% of the time, and play progressive metal and fusion for the most part, so please keep that in mind.
So, TB, what do you guys reccomend?
Thanks in advance. |

IME, Chromes have a little more tension and a little more metallic clang than TI's, which to me sound a little more "woody" and uprightish in comparison.
Also, even though TI's may be expensive, don't forget that you don't have to change them every few months. My set of TI's is over 5 years old, making them pretty "cheap".
Good luck.
