Either flats or nickel round wounds.

Flats will (generally) be more thumpy with less sustain.

Fender 7150 pure nickel are my fave roundwound for a darker tone than steels, or else LaBella Deep Talkin flats are a great string and a bit less $ than TIs.

Haven't tried the 7150 Fenders and maybe I will some day. TI Superalloys all the way for me these days. They might be more expensive but the tone makes it worth the extra $$ and they seem to last a long time.

DR Sunbeams

I'm using DR Sunbeams on my 70 Jazz for a decent vintage tone or modern tone if needed.

If you are not concerned about modern tone, Fender or D'Addario flatwounds are the way to go IMO.
