Strings For My MusicMaster Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
A few months ago, I bought this really cool vintage musicmaster bass, and haven't yet changed the stings. So I went and switched the strings that were on it for and older pair that I had. The strings worked fine, except for the fact that the E string buzzes really bad on the first fret only. This leads me to believe that the strings are too thick for the very tiny musicmaster. My question is: What gauge strings should I be using on this short scale, very tiny bass?

What gauge strings are you using at the moment? Not sure about the musicmasters stock strings but the Fender mustang comes with 95-75-60-40 gauge strings (source: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/fender-mustang/9101) the mustang and musicmaster are fairly similar so I would think a musicmaster with those gauge strings would work well

You're absolutely right. I picked up a pair of that gauge today, and they are exactly the same as the one's that were on it already. Thanks for the tip.
