Dunlop too. In fact I'd put DR and Dunlop above the others.

None of them do (Dunlops do not either). The only exception being DR Long Necks. But why are you wanting tapered??

I was under the impression that if I want to string thru the body, I should use tapered. Is that not what Lakland uses? I'm a little confused on this.

Tapered is not a must to string thru body. D'Addario offers a Super Long that is tapered and will work strung thru body. Elixers also offer a tapered B that will string thru body. Check out the single string section at www.juststrings.com.

If you're set up for tapered B right now, you might want to consider Sadowsky strings. Their B is tapered. You'll need to order the extra long set to accommodate the 35" scale and you will need to string thru bridge. The Black Label steels and Blue Label nickels are two of my faves. One aggressive, one is warm and bright.

Tapered is definitely not a must. In fact most string through body makers don't use tapered strings...G&L, Music Man, Fender, Carvin.....just to name a few. I don't use them anymore either. I like to have some mass on the saddle.

The taper length of the DR Long Neck is exactly the same as the Lakland strings. I replaced the stocks with Long Necks and they worked perfectly.

Lakland ships them with their own brand of stainless strings, which are made by GHS and I beleive are the same as GHS Super Steels.

I like my 55-01 with a set of DR Hi-Beams with an UN-tapered B. I find the tapered strings sounded too different from the rest of the strings, and found no utility for them at all.

I you wanted to....you could get a 4 string set of DR Lo-Riders in SS and get a single Long-Neck B string. It will fit exactly like the Lakland sets thru-body with 4 strings un-tapered and a tapered B.

A good idea. Although I believe the long neck is basically a tapered hi-beam. So you may find the finger feel matches better using those in lieu of the lo rider. US $220.00
I think both a great strings.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the Long-Necks are hex core Lo-Riders with the taper. You can always call DR to find out. Or someone here may know for sure. Either way, you'll either have a lo-rider set or a hi beam set...win win combo.

Yes. I mis-spoke, or rather mis-typed.. It is the lo-riders that have the hex core. As do the long necks.

I just slapped a set on on ASJV. I like them very much.
