which strings for the ripper?

i heard something about how you had to use Xtr-long strings for the gibson ripper because of the string-through body, is this true? or will a regular pair of strings work just the same?

"Regular" (34" scale, 'long scale') strings will work just fine,
but you should terminate them at the bridge vs. running them
thru-body

For instance, terminating at the bridge, I've used TI JF344's and
Rotosound RS88-LD's on my Ripper. Conversely, stringing
thru-body, I've used TI JF364's and Rotosound RS88-EL's
