Question Strings for a six string

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys - I did a search and it came up empty, so the question is this:

I just bought a used 6'er, my first btw, and the strings are completely dead. So it's gonna need a new set, but I haven't got a clue as to what is good or bad.
The bass is a '97 Ibanez sr506, in really good condition.

I've been looking at Warwicks and DR strings, but I dunno..
I'm most likely gonna buy from this site:

http://www.thomann.de

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I have no idea what to recommend, as you haven't indicated what sound you want.

D'Addario makes 6 string sets of Steel & Nickel Roundwounds, Flatwounds, & Groundwounds.

If you like a full, bright sound I would recommend GHS SS contact cores. Although the contact cores usually require an adjustment to the bridge. I have been using them on my 6 strings for years. I find all my strings on juststrings.com. I buy 5 string sets with single 30s for the high string. good luck.
